Keep Keighley Clean – Back Cavendish Street

Keighley BID is delighted to announce the successful start of cleaning of Back Cavendish Street, a significant milestone in addressing long-standing concerns raised by local businesses and residents about persistent fly-tipping in the area.

The street, which had been heavily impacted by discarded rubbish, had become an eyesore and a safety issue for the community. After engaging with Bradford Council’s regeneration portfolio holder, Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, and Keighley Area Committee chair, Councillor Caroline Firth, Keighley BID has worked in partnership to begin to resolve the problem. Thanks to their efforts, Back Cavendish Street is now looking cleaner and safer for all who use it. This collaborative effort marks the beginning of an important partnership aimed at improving the town centre.

BID Manager Sarah Broadbent said: “Back Cavendish Street had been brought to our attention by the businesses. The street was covered in fly-tipping and was becoming unsafe to walk down. Keighley BID would like to thank Councillor Ross-Shaw and Councillor Firth for their efforts to get Back Cavendish Street dealt with and cleaned. We hope to work closely with each other in the future on any further issues to help make Keighley a safer, cleaner, and greener place.”

Cllr Alex Ross-Shaw said, “BIDs are so important for providing a voice for businesses in our town and city centres and it’s been great to work with Keighley BID. Partnership working is so important for getting things done and I’m looking forward to working with the BID alongside our Area Chair, Cllr Firth and local councillors Cllr Mohsin Hussain and Amjad Zaman, who have been very supportive of improving our links with businesses and residents in the town centre.”

Keighley BID is committed to ongoing efforts to enhance the town centre, making it a more pleasant environment for businesses, residents, and visitors alike. The recent clean-up is just the first step in the larger mission to tackle challenges and improve the quality of life in Keighley.
